HBCU Scholarship

The HBCU Scholarship is a $2,000 renewable scholarship awarded to a student who plans to attend or is currently attending a four-year, on-campus HBCU. This scholarship also includes mentorship to help students as they matriculate through their undergraduate career.

Eligibility Criteria

Must be planning to attend or currently attending an HBCU
Must complete the application and submit all required documents by the deadline: May 31, 2025.
Must have a 2.75 GPA

Step 1: Download and Complete the Application Form

Click on the PDF document to download the HBCU Scholarship Application Form.
Fill out all required fields and have your school counselor or an administrator sign the form.

Step 2: Gather Your Required Documents

📌Complete Scholarship Application Form

📌Typed Resume (highlighting academic achievements, extracurriculars, and community service)

📌Typed Essay Responding to the Prompt (at least 500 words)

NOTE: Label all files properly (e.g., FirstName_LastName_Resume.pdf).

Step 3: Request Your Letter of Recommendation and Official Transcript

Recommenders MUST email their completed forms directly to info@lylesswansonempower.org
- Recommender Forms will NOT be accepted from students.
Official Transcripts can also be emailed directly to info@lylesswansonempower.org

Step 4: Submit Your Application & Documents

Once you have completed all steps, submit your application form and required documents via email to info@lylesswansonempower.org
